The
Tullahoma Wildcats ran into a much-improved Mt. Juliet
football team in the opening round of the TSSAA state
high school football playoffs, and the Wildcats saw their
season come to an end with a 42-14 loss to the Golden
Bears Friday night in Mt. Juliet.
Tullahoma
(4-2, 6-5) stuttered in the opening minutes and the
home team, which will travel to Hillsboro next week
in round two, took advantage by opening a quick 21-0
lead on the first play of the second quarter.
The
Cats could never get into a rhythm offensively, and
the Golden Bears controlled both sides of the line of
scrimmage. Mt. Juliet averaged 10 yards each play, while
the Wildcats had only 60 yards total offense in the
first half, when they trailed 28-0.
